Eagles: History, Myths and Spirituality

Biblical Eagles, Augurs the Spiritual Dimensions and symbolism of all birds, particlarly the eagles' history and own ancient meanings provide myths from all cultures to convey our awe and love and interpretation of those feathered creatures who inhabit the realm and element of air. In alchemy and in tribal legends, the majesty and nobility of eagles has long been part of our psyche.

Phoenix: from Greek phoinix, translated via Latin to Old English fenix. Word resolves into fo-en-ix; 'one great fire'. A legendary Arabian bird said to set itself on fire every 500 years. The phoenix is said to look like the eagle only its colours are yellow and crimson. In Greek has a home in the celestial realm of purple light. In China when the world is peaceful its note (song) is heard. In Christianity is Jesus. A person or thing of surpassing beauty or quality. Figuratively a person of singular or superlative excellence; a prodigy. Its advent heralds an auspicious event. Typifies the entire world; its' back the crescent moon, its' wings the wind, its' feet earth, its' tail trees and plants. They build their nests in palm or oak trees, surround themselves with cinnamon and frankincense.

Eagles were determined to have originated in Asia. The eagle is the only bird that can look into the sun.
